We had an AMAZING trip to the Redwood Forest! There were many new experiences including camping and making
s'mores. The kids loved camping and now that we're home, they keep asking when we can go again. We made the wise decision of dividing into 2 tents for more room, and it worked out well. As usual, Ava LOVED everything she saw. She kept thanking us for bringing her camping and for every new experience (she's such a gracious child!).
This is one of our hikes in Stout Memorial Grove. We were able to hike right from our campsite. The kids did a great job hiking. Ava was not the speediest, but she was in her own world talking and discovering nature. She looked even smaller in the forest of giant Redwoods!
The kids loved camping. They were able to help with preparing meals over the campfire and both became master
s'mores makers! Ava went from covering her ears while watching dad roast her marshmallow to roasting it herself!
Aiden LOVED
s'mores and roasted marshmallows and says that was his favorite part of the trip! :) He was a GREAT camper and at a great age to really take it in and enjoy. He learned a lot of new things!
The campsite was really nice with bear boxes in each campsite and descent bathrooms (albeit no showers). We all got good and dirty! In the middle of the first night, Ava had to go to the bathroom which was several campsites down. It was 1:30 am, really dark and chilly, but she was giddy with happiness! As we were walking to the bathroom, she was saying, "Mom, this is so much fun! I LOVE camping! Thank you for bringing us camping!" (followed by hugs and MANY kisses!). Of course, in the bathroom, she was saying, "I LOVE this bathroom! It was a great time to discover the bright stars when we looked up between the big trees! A fun time was had by all, and we will definitely be doing more camping with all the opportunities so close here in OR. More Redwood posts to follow....
