School Shopping

Aiden was off with a friend today (more on that in the next post), so Ava and I had a girl's day school clothes shopping and going to lunch!  What an awesome day to spend with Ava.  She is REALLY growing up and having so much more grown up conversations and questions and thoughts!  She was really focused on tanning beds today as there is a tanning place next to the dry cleaner where we picked up Brien's shirts.  She wanted all the facts and was curious why people would go there.  We had a big discussion about making choices and also accepting the consequences of any choice we make.  We even had to look up images of tanning beds on the iPad, so she knew what it was all about.  She decided she wasn't going to ever go to a tanning bed.  Good.  Let's hope she sticks with that!
Anyway...aside from that, this girl knew what she was shopping for this year.  Long gone are the days of me buying off-season from the sale racks!  Luckily, she picked two stores that were having sales, and I had an additional 20% off from that in one of the stores.  This is the girl that would not wear anything with pockets and would not even consider jeans.  She loved leggings and shirts and elastic waistband skirts.  She's over that apparently because she found a sales lady and told her she wanted to put together the outfit on the mannequin.  Here she is...

It's a good thing she was with me because I would never have imagined she would like this outfit!    She also bought a jean skirt.  Go figure?!  The other big milestone this weekend was getting a haircut and letting the beautician wash her hair (that's the best part for me!).  In the past, she only allow the squirt bottle mist. This 1st grade thing is really creating a new girl!
