He shoots....He SCORES!

Aiden had another indoor soccer game again tonight. The team plays mostly 2nd grade teams that have a coach who coaches and that also practice, so Aiden's team loses every time. :) They haven't even scored the past 6-8 games. This inspired one mom to tell the kids that if anyone scored, she would buy the team ice cream. Well, tonight Aiden was really playing well, and he scored! It was pretty cool because the team is so awful that all the players and parents were SO excited. It was a huge moment in a small elementary school gym for the true underdog of a team. :) We have never pushed Aiden to play or to do anything but have fun (and to be honest, the only reason he is still playing with this league is to burn some of his ever present energy), but the smile and pride that he felt when he scored was PRICELESS. It's so fun to see your child succeed! When we went to ice cream, we were the last ones to arrive, and they all clapped and cheered for Aiden when he walked in the door as if he were a hero. Again...small town, big night. On the way home in the car, Ava said, "Aiden, you were running and KICKED the ball in the net. You did a great job at soccer!" She's so sweet. During prayers at bedtime, she said, "Dear God, Thank you for Aiden doing a great job at soccer, so we could get ice cream. Amen. " :)
Two more games to go for this long indoor season, and then he will play outside in the fall!
