Neudeck News: Napali Coast

We started the day Tuesday hiking to the Queen's Bath which is a natural pool on a lava bench. The waves were pretty high, so we opted out of swimming although there were some people who were swimming and marveling over the waves that were about to wash them out to sea! We didn't feel like putting our recently revised will into action. We then spent half the day Tuesday on the beach in the sun reading and relaxing. Kaua'i is known for their shaved ice which doesn't sound thrilling to me normally, but it was SO yummy after being on the hot beach.
We stopped at some caves before hiking part of the Kalalau Trail. This hike was absolutely AMAZING. We have both done a lot of hiking in a lot of different places, but the scenery here was unbelievable! We hiked in 2 mi to Hanakapi'ai Beach and the 2 mi back out. It was really hot and steamy, but the trail was adventuresome with lots of mud and waterfalls. I was literally on a high when we got done it was so fun and had such beautiful scenery! We were really sweaty and muddy (Kaua'i has red dirt which we will never get out of our shoes/clothes) when we got done, but we found a cute restaurant with tables outside looking over the incredible scenery from which we had just come. It was a perfect day! (of course, the pictures don't do it justice!)
