Spring Fever...

We saw the sun this weekend, and although it was a bit chilly, it wasn't raining! :)  It felt like spring.  We did some yard work, planted some new bushes and Brien built another raised garden bed for our summer garden.  We planted our spring garden last weekend with swiss chard, kale, green onions, carrots and peas.  We also planted a strawberry plant and a blueberry bush!  Fun!  We harvested some spinach that we planted in the fall, and it was truly delicious!  Our kids love to eat anything out of the garden, so the more we plant, the more they eat!  Both kids helped with some yard work, and Aiden helped build the garden box.  When they weren't helping, they were playing hard!  Aiden was shooting hoops, skateboarding and biking, and Ava was biking, playing on the swing set and playing t-ball.  It felt so good to just spend the weekend outside.  Typical Ava story:  I recently got a pair of rain boots for working in the yard.  Rain boots are a necessity here just as snow boots are in winter in WI.  Ava has a pair of blue rain boots that were a hand-me-down pair from somebody.  She put her rain boots on and looked at mine and said, "But mine aren't as pretty as yours, mom."  I had to do some sweet talking to convince her that her skirt, sweater, headband and patterned tights really made her rain boots much prettier than mine! :)
