We have spent the past few trips to Brien's parents helping them downsize. This trip was a full 4 days of cleaning, rearranging and trips to Goodwill. Brien's dad is full of history and stories. Each book in his library of books has a story of it's own. It's amazing to see the breadth of subjects he has conquered, and it's endearing to hear his life-review through the books he has read as well as the news clippings and things he has saved. They both did a great job parting with a lot of items. After about 500 books, the library refused any further donations. Goodwill saw our car coming and started moaning, so we switched cars and drivers for further drop-offs! It was comical to consider how we could donate things when we exceeded our donation allotment!
The kids were VERY patient and entertained themselves. It was fun to see what they came up with including bowling (with Gma's Diet Coke cans as bowling pins), sidewalk chalk and Broadway Production singing on Gpa's desk using the duster as a microphone (okay, so that was only Ava). There was also (far too much) iPod and TV time which they don't get at home. Aiden was an AMAZING help with tranporting and packing things as well! We did get some fun kid activities in including the carousel, swimming, playgound, games and a movie (The Lorax for me and Ava and John Carter for Aiden and Brien).
