Old Growth Hikes!

We did a couple of hikes on Saturday as well.  We started with a hike through old growth forests which was pretty cool and reminded us a little of our trip to the Redwoods a few years ago.  We continued with another hike along the Kautz River that started pretty flat and after crossing a river bed, was supposed to get steep and full of views.  We sat on rocks in the river bed to have a water break and heard a low significant growl from an animal.  Brien and I looked at each other eyes wide and decided to keep moving.  As we moved forward, we heard it again.  We didn't see any animal, but there was something there!  Yikes!  We decided to turn back and call it a day, but it provided for good discussion and education for the kids about what to do when encountering bears or bobcats in the wild.  We made sure to keep Ava close as she would be extra tasty!

This tree had a funny loop growth that we all tried out
to do pull-ups.  Brien was able to do the most!

We popped out at these hikers and surprised them!



It started raining on the last night!  When we camp, we put the kids to bed in the tent and
have "date night" by the campfire.  It rained on our parade the last night, so we
called it quits early.  It was WET taking the tents down when we left, and we
are still drying them out!
