Madison!

We stopped in Madison for the day en route from Milton to Wausau.  We did the usual:  drove by our old house which is depressingly unkempt, walked State St, walked through the capital and had ice cream at Memorial Union.  Although we have been to the capital before, Ava was particularly impressed with it this year as they had just completed a unit at her summer camp on state capitals.  She loved the gold figure on the top and the "fancy" interior as well.  We were able to get into the Governor's Office as well as the State Senate and Supreme Court rooms, too!  It was fun to see more of the interior of the building despite the intense politics going on there right now.  The kids got to witness an extremely vocal protester verbally attacking a congressman, too!  Ah..the educational moments!
