Lighthouse

We visited the Umpqua River Lighthouse on the trip, too!  Brien made fun of this originally and then ended up being so engrossed in it that we had to pry him away!  We were lucky enough to have a private guided tour and learned a lot about all 11 lighthouses on the Oregon Coast.  They are all still working lighthouses.  The Umpqua was the first lighthouse and houses a 4000 lb glass prism that reflects the light out 20 miles with a white-white-red pattern which allowed boats to have an idea of their location.  Now, they have GPS systems, but the lighthouses continue to operate.  We walked through the museum and learned a lot about the coastguard as well!  It was a fun learning opportunity that we all really enjoyed.  We even went back after dark to see the cool lights in the dark!

some other whales but just open these big jaws and filter fish
through them!  Wow!

up into it as it turned.  Super cool!  This was made in Paris, France,
in the early 1800s.
